Nails of the Day #2 | Blues.

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Hello! Today I wanted to write a more laid back post and the immediate thing that came to my mind was NOTD! I haven't done one in a while and freshly painted my nails yesterday so I wanted to share with you what I've been wearing on my nails :)

I realized I have a lot of shades of blue. I don't have that much nail polish in general but I do have quite a few of blues so I wanted to use some of them.

Yesterday I picked the 2 blue colors and just painted away. I always like to add some kind of twist onto my ring finger - whether it would be a different color than the rest or some funky design. I would have done something more special if I wouldn't have painted my nails at 1 am *cough*.
I've seen a lot of NOTD's where the ring finger is a darker color than the rest but I decided to pick a lighter one and I love it!

Well, there's nothing more to it. Simple as that.

Do you like to make your ring finger look different? Will you try something similar?

Beauty Review | Cheaper Alternative of a Beauty Blender.

Monday, May 27, 2013

I can't believe how time flies by - I realized I had this little hot pink beauty blender in my hands for over a week now. It's the one that changed the way I apply my make up and makes it look flawless.

bought from here

I'm sure you all heard the rave about the original beauty blender when it first came out - everyone was screaming and shouting at how great it was. I used to always listen but never believe - how a damp sponge can apply make up better than brushes? The whole concept seemed unbelievable to me - and so was the price, the original one is priced at $19.95. It seems like a lot of money for a sponge? As time went buy I thought why not search my old friend eBay for a cheaper alternative and boy did I found one. There were tons and tons of China sellers with the cheap beauty blender version - the original 'teardrop' shaped one and the one that I got which is shaped a little more different. And I paid $1.79 for it!

The sponge itself is pretty big and I like that because it can blend the foundation onto my face much quicker. I also use the pointed end to apply concealer under my eyes and on blemishes.

Now onto application - it works wonderfully. I haven't tried the original one and I'm sure it's better (I judge by the price difference) but I'm completely okay with having just this one. I used to apply my foundation with my fingers or using a brush but this is way better. I dot the foundation all over my face, as I always did, and then bounce the dampened sponge onto my face to distribute it evenly. This sponge is pretty hard and not as easy going as I had imagined but I don't mind it. It makes for the prettiest coverage - obviously depends on what you are using. I use a light/medium coverage foundation and it covers everything I need it to. Doesn't feel heavy and my skin is left glowy all because of this little sponge.

I don't know if it works the same on everyone - maybe it's just me - but I truly love it and I know I will buying this again.
If you're interested - I bought it from eBay here.

Have you tried the beauty blender? What are your thoughts?

Thursday Tag | Would You Rather (Beauty Edition!)

Thursday, May 16, 2013

It's Thursday, which means the fun for me, because it's TAG time! I love reading them as much as writing them myself. Today I chose would you rather: beauty edition TAG because it's been floating around on a few blogs here and there and I added it to my 'thursday tag' list and since I'm pretty busy today I thought this would be a fun post to think about. I've read the questions before but haven't thought a lot about that so we shall see what comes out of it!

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?

Oh well, that's pretty hard! I don't have a lot of either of those but I think I would be sad if I lost mascaras and liners and lip products. That's way more than eyeshadows and maybe I could find a replacement of those somehow?

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Definitely chop off! Think about it - there are more than enough real looking wigs out there that you could fake having gorgeous hair until yours grow back out. But never chopping it off??! Never. How could I walk around with hair until my knees or something? How to braid them or wash them?! Too much. Definitely chop!

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?

Since I have only one blush in my life and that's red-ish dark pink I can't really tell which one suits my skin better. But I definitely think coral, since I love the color and it would make a lovely blush!

If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

I would love to spend it on makeup but much more rational decision would be to spend it on clothes. I could buy a lot and wear them for years to come!

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

I think my answer is eyeliner as lipstick. I've seen a couple of colored eyeliners suitable for lips like pinks or reds. And they would be much more enjoyable on the lips than sticky or creamy lip product on your eyes - it must be uncomfortable!

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?

Never been/don't have any of those but from what I've heard through the years I would definitely pick Sephora. You can buy tons and tons of different brands in Sephora and you can buy only MAC in the MAC store. Also, I've heard that Sephora actually carries MAC but I don't know if it's true or not since I've never even been near to one.

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?

One lip color! I love eyeshadows, they can make you look 10 times more done and dolled up and a light pink sheer color is perfect for all looks in my opinion. Much more suitable for different occasions.

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

I would much rather burn my ass off in the heat of summer with winter clothes on than freeze to death in shorts and tank tops in the winter. I could seriously die in winter but if I stayed in the shadow with winter clothes on maybe I wouldn't be all that hot anyways?

Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

That's a hard one. I will have to say darks, just because I love dark nail polish on me, and there are so many to choose from! Maybe a dark blue with bright blue or pink sparkles would make up for the loss of brights?

Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?

My collection is so close to not being one at all that I can't answer these questions seriously. Maybe one fave lip product? I'm sure I could find a dupe for that in the long run. Or maybe even a better product. But my eyes - not so much.

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Messy bun! I love those on people. And I have a classmate that wears ponytail for 3 years now and I've never even seen her in different hair styles and believe me - that creeps me out. Messy buns are supposed to be messy so they would look different every time, while ponytails are pretty much the same.

Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

Never use lipgloss, only because I could change that with lipstick or lip butter that looks like a gloss. Smart? Yes. :D

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

Oh my god, that's my biggest nightmares right here. I hatehatehate sharpie eyebrows and they would look even more yucky on me so I would probably choose to shave them all (fun fact: my natural eyebrows are so light that the ends are not even visible from afar. I have to dye them from time to time or fill them in so I would have any)

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Nail polish for sure. As much as I love to paint my nails there is so much more I could do with all the makeup available than with nail polish, right?

Hope you liked reading my answers. I personally found this tag to be quite depressing. I would hate any of these things to happen and don't even want to think about it.

If you would like to do this tag, please do! And make sure to leave me the link in the comments!

Beauty Review | Freeman Facial Clay Mask with Avocado & Oatmeal

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Hello, charming ladies! So sorry for not posting for a week again. No more excuses - I'm constantly too late to take pictures or something or too lazy to edit them which leads to not posting for such a long time. I always think I'm boring and no one would read what I have to tell and that kind of puts me off. Don't know why.
Well, today I'm back with another beauty (or skincare?) review - Freeman's Facial Mask. I was in a drugstore not too long ago and bought 2 of these and one another one, all by Freeman (haven't tried another one yet but expect another review coming soon!). They were too cheap not to grab and go! Obviously, these are sample sized face masks but it's good to try and then grab a full size of this (which I think I will be doing!).

Now what I've read about this mask on freemanbeauty.com: Rich clays dive deep to purge dirt and oils from pores. Nutrient-rich Vitamin E, Avocado and Oatmeal moisturize for lasting skin softness. Skin looks and feels squeaky clean and is soft to the touch. Perfect for normal to combination skin.

I have to agree with this 100%! It's actually quite weird for me to say that since I never believe all those ads and cheesy descriptions.
The mask itself is a pretty mint green color (my favorite) and soft silky texture. Scent was also enjoyable for me. When applied, dries for a little too long, I was taking a bath while applying, so maybe the heat caused it. Since I have very dry skin I try to avoid things not made for specifically dry skin, this was one of the exceptions. It may have burned a little at first but the thing is that my face was a little sun burnt and this was the magical cure - woke up in the morning with a tanned face and no redness - amazing, right? It also made my face feel squeaky clean, as said in the description.
Overall, everything that needed to be done to my face was done correctly. It even cured my sunburns, never expected that from a simple face mask. This one is perfect for those days when your face needs just a little pick me up - not to expect something super special, great for using as often as you'd like.
As I mentioned I'll definitely be buying the full size when I run out of these, because I always need something to make my skin feel soft to the touch and clean. Dry skin can be such a hassle at times!

Have you tried anything by Freeman? What other face masks do you recommend? (I NEED to try Montagne Jaunesse ones!)

Thursday Tag | This or That (Book Edition)

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Another day, another series. I'm on a sudden idea overflow and decided on one more series - Thursday Tags. I believe these weekly series will help to have some kind of routine without being too overwhelming with scheduled posts week to week. I promise I will keep a lot of spontaneous posts coming too!
I was tagged by the lovely Julia to do this tag and I immediately did! So here's my answers for all of you lovelies!

Audio books or book in hand?

Book in hand for sure! I don't think I would enjoy someone else's voice. I like to read it and imagine it all. If you didn't know - I have a very nice imagination and like to drown in a book if you might!
Soft or hard cover?
I had to think about this and decided that I like hard cover books more - they seem more sturdy and as a clumsy person I am I would probably spill something on a soft cover book and ruin it.
Fiction or non-fiction?
I love fictional books! I've read a book called The Road of Lost Innocence by Somaly Mam and it was a non-fictional book where the author tells about her teenage years in sexual slavery. Very touching and interesting and from that I really want to read more non-fictional books, I just haven't yet.
Fantasy world or real-life issues?
Fantasy world! The whole another universe and thinking really inspires me. I don't know what it is about it - I just can't get enough. As I said - I love imagining and creating a world in my head.
Harry Potter or Twilight?
I remember when I first read Twilight. Stayed up till 5 am to finish the whole book in one night. I was a crazy book-worm back then, and still am. Nevertheless, Harry Potter is way more awesome. I cried and kept shaking while reading the last book. Very interesting experience, I might say!
Kindle, iPad or other?
Never read on any of those. I have my trusty phone if I really want a book and it's still not translated. But I love hard copies way more than e-books.
Borrow or buy?
Borrow! Never bought a book, except in my childhood, just because I personally think it's a waste of money since I never read a book twice and they are super expensive! Libraries offer a large variety of books and I like that.
Book store or buy online?
Book store! I love the variety and all different books in every corner. It's my sacred place. I usually go there for inspiration of books I want to borrow from the library.
Standalone or series?
Series, because I hate the feeling of a book ending and never knowing how it all got from there. I love that I can continue on with my favorite character adventures. Also, series usually end way more settled as standalone books end with a cliffhanger.
Monster read or short and sweet?
Monster read! I love getting into the huge book and going through pages and pages of never-ending story.
Starry eyed romance or full of action?
Full of action, just because I easily get bored with a book and want more action. I love romance too - just haven't read anything in a while - maybe know would be the time?
Curl up in your snuggie or lay in the sun?
Lay in the sun. I love reading outside while tanning. Sunglasses, music and a good book - perfect summer day for me. I'm also one of those odd people that doesn't hear anything around while reading, I just get so invested in the story-line!
Hot chocolate or latte?
Hot chocolate ♥
Read the review or decide for yourself?
Both. I love reading book reviews because they give me inspiration on what to pick up next, but I'm more than okay picking book by myself.
Hope you liked this sweet post! If you decide to do this - leave your post in the comments! I would love to read it. Also, if you have any suggestion on my future reads, leave them bellow (warning, I have read A LOT of books!)

Wishlist #1 | MAY.

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Hello! Today I'm starting a new series once again. I was thinking of doing a Wishlist post for a while now but always didn't know exactly how often I wanted to post it. And this idea came to me that monthly would be the best - after each paycheck that I receive at the end of the month I could actually buy those things and develop a new wishlist for the next month. So tell me what you think!

1. Dainty Doll powder blush in 'You Are My Sunshine' | HERE | Dainty Doll is one of the brands that isn't sold in Lithuania. Well, actually, most of the brands are not. But I've read a ton of reviews and this blush catched my eye - it's the perfect pink/gold color. From the pictures I've seen it reminds me a lot of NARS 'Orgasm' blush and that's a color I wanted to try for ages. Unfortunately, shipping from Dainty Doll's website costs a lot more than I would like so I don't know what to do - maybe look around for similar color?

2. Eveline Cosmetics Aqua Platinum Lipstick | HERE | Most of you have never heard of Eveline, right? Well, it's not well known at all, it's a Poland based brand I believe and from reviews online I've seen - they have some amazing products that are cheap and worth trying. The lipstick from the Aqua Platinum collection I swatched at the drugstore and fell in love with how creamy and moisturizing it felt on my skin. It leaves a nice sheen so you don't need a lip gloss over it and it doesn't dry out your lips. One of the top products on my wishlist!

3. Eveline Cosmetics Art Scenic Foundation | HERE | Another product from Eveline I want to try - this foundation. Swatched it too and it felt moisturizing on my dry skin and that's the main thing I look for in foundation, since I have really dry skin. It's cheap too, that means that if I don't like it I won't be dissapointed.

4. Manhattan Cosmetics Limited Edition Concealer, Blush & Lipgloss set | Saw this in one of the cosmetic outlet store near me and fell in love - beautiful blush colors, all matte and creamy concealer is amazing. I was looking for both of these separate but even better if they are all together in a nice little set/palette. You can also choose from 4 color combos!

5. Matched by Ally Condie | One of the books I've read on my phone but got bored of the small screen. It recently was translated into Lithuanian and I can't wait to get my hands on it - from all the reviews it seems like my taste and style, I love dystopian books!

Hopefully you liked the read! Tell me what you think :)
Do you reccommend me something I could add to my wishlist? Any good reads? Leave them in the comments!
